The Benefits of Cooking With CBD

Cooking with CBD

So you’ve heard that CBD has many health benefits ranging from easing anxiety to relieving stress and pain but you’re tired of CBD tincture drops under the tongue? There are many ways to consume CBD and add more flavor to common foods and drinks. Ready to step your tincture game up? Adding CBD tinctures to food and drinks daily is easy, fun, and tastes great if you know what you’re doing.

So what is CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol and it’s the latest dietary supplement and plant-based wellness product that everybody is trying. CBD is derived from the cannabis plant but unlike marijuana, CBD lacks THC, the mind-altering ingredient that produces the high effect.

Mankind has been cooking with Cannabis since the 10th century for spiritual purposes but cooking with CBD is a relatively new discovery. Many people have fears of getting high or having an altered state of mind after consuming CBD. But, CBD does not have the same effect as THC “the high” and is all about the quantity used.

Why is consuming Cannabinoids so important for our health and well-being?

Cannabinoids interact with our endocannabinoid system, a network of cannabinoid receptors, and neurotransmitters found in our brains as well as the human bodies’ central nervous system and immune system. These systems are made up of natural molecules “Cannabinoids”, as well as the pathways they interact within the brain. Together these systems work to regulate a number of activities for the body including mood shifting, memory, sleep, and even appetite.

CBD Cooking Rules and Methods

First of all, don’t cook CBD over direct heat. That’s important to mention first and foremost because if you cook it directly,  you risk the chance of evaporating the CBD and negating the effect you’re aiming for.

The second rule to follow is always to start small! Many people love that CBD can be taken in various forms all throughout their day. Similar to haircuts you can’t go back once done, start slow so you can effectively find the level of relief needed.

So, how do you add CBD tinctures to your favorite beverage or meal? Try blending CBD tinctures into your favorite caffeinated drink, adult beverage, or even add it to water. There are many water-soluble and tinctures available in a variety of different flavors. Many recipes that call for natural flavorings such as mint, strawberry, and many others allow for the opportunity to add in a little flavored CBD. An example can be as easy as adding flavored CBD tinctures or oils to a salad mix or to top off an evening tea (Ex.  Strawberry CBD Tincture – added to a fresh spring mix/strawberry walnut salad). Another cooking technique can be to add a few drops to your favorite baked goods like cookies, brownies, or cake for the desired flavor. Even add CBD to your water daily for extra flavor and needed relief. One of the reasons CBD has become so popular is that it can be consumed discreetly during everyday tasks.

Now that we have given you enough to get started, begin expanding your horizons and introducing friends and family members to CBD. This holiday season is a perfect opportunity to help friends and family find relief, get better sleep, take the edge off, and many other responses from trying CBD.
